The former couple reunited publicly for the first time in five years to celebrate their youngest daughter Miranda’s first communion on June 8, marking a significant milestone for their family.

The reunion was a rare sight, as Soto and Bazán have avoided being seen together in public since their high-profile divorce in October 2018. Speaking on the morning show *Despierta América*, Soto emphasized the importance of setting aside differences for the sake of their daughters during important family moments.

“[It’s] extremely important for our children,” Soto shared. “These are milestones in their lives, and moments like a first communion are about instilling values of religion and spirituality.”

The celebration was captured in a heartfelt family photo featuring Miranda, her sister Elissa, and their parents smiling together. Soto reflected on the significance of the moment, saying, “It was done with respect and with the best intentions for our daughters. Seeing them happy is what makes us happy as parents.”

A Special Day for Miranda

Soto also spoke about how meaningful the day was for Miranda, who had prepared for nearly two years by attending catechism classes. “It was like her graduation. She was so excited, and it was a very important day for us as parents, as a family, and especially for her,” he said.

While Soto and Bazán’s reunion garnered attention, Soto’s fiancée, Russian actress Irina Baeva, expressed her support for the family moment. Reacting to Bazán’s Instagram post of the event, Baeva said, “It’s completely understandable. The most important thing is the girls’ well-being. They are their parents and will always be a family. There’s no issue from my side.”

A Love Story Turned Turbulent

Soto and Bazán’s relationship began in December 2007 after meeting on the set of the telenovela *Bajo las riendas del amor*. At the time, Bazán was 24 years old, and Soto was 32. The couple quickly became one of Mexican entertainment’s favorite pairs. In February 2009, they welcomed their first daughter, Elissa Marie.

However, cracks began to form in their relationship not long after. Despite a brief reconciliation that led to the birth of their second daughter, Alexa Miranda, in 2014, their marriage faced continuous challenges. The couple tied the knot in February 2016 with both a church ceremony in Mexico City and a civil wedding in Valle de Bravo.

Just weeks after their wedding, controversy struck when photos surfaced of Soto carrying actress Marjorie de Sousa at a beach in Cancún. Soto denied any romantic involvement, explaining that the photos were taken during a work trip with the cast of the play *Por qué los hombres aman a las cab–nas*. However, the incident led to public speculation about their marriage, with Bazán later appearing without her wedding ring.

Despite efforts to move forward—including a honeymoon to Napa Valley in June 2016—their relationship continued to unravel. By September 2017, rumors swirled that Soto was involved with actress Irina Baeva, while other reports falsely claimed he was the father of De Sousa’s son. Although DNA tests later confirmed that actor Julián Gil was the child’s father, the scandal took a toll on Soto’s family life.

In late 2017, Bazán and Soto announced their separation. Shortly after, Soto admitted to infidelity during their marriage but denied that it involved Baeva. By January 2018, paparazzi captured Soto’s car parked overnight at Baeva’s home, fueling further speculation about their relationship.

Moving Forward with Irina Baeva

Soto and Baeva confirmed their romance in September 2018 when they were spotted holding hands in Los Angeles. By October of that year, Soto and Bazán had finalized their divorce, officially ending their tumultuous marriage.

Since then, Soto and Baeva have been open about their relationship despite facing criticism from fans and media alike. Meanwhile, Bazán has focused on her career and co-parenting her daughters with Soto.

A Commitment to Family

Despite their rocky history, Soto and Bazán seem committed to maintaining a respectful co-parenting relationship for the benefit of their daughters. Their recent reunion at Miranda’s first communion is a testament to their dedication to putting family first.

As Soto noted during his interview on *Despierta América*, “What matters most is seeing our daughters happy. That will always be our priority.”

While their past may be marked by challenges and controversies, moments like these show that both parents are determined to provide a united front for their children—even if only for special occasions.
