Chelsea star Jadon Sancho reveals why Cole Palmer will be ‘FUMING’ with his performance despite scoring four goals against Brighton
Jadon Sancho has claimed Cole Palmer will be ‘fuming’ with his performance against Brighton – despite the fact he scored four goals.
Palmer became the first Premier League player in history to score four goals before half-time as Chelsea surged to a 4-2 win over Brighton at home on Saturday.
Sancho won the penalty for Palmer to convert and also assisted his fourth goal, settling in well having joined on loan from Manchester United.
He sees Palmer, who now has six goals and four assists this season, as a player who can elevate a team to new levels.
‘When you have a player in your team like Cole Palmer, then anything is possible,’ he told Chelsea’s website.
‘I’ve known Cole a long time, since our days together at City. I’ve always watched him and I always thought he would go on to be a great player. He’s showing that now at Chelsea.
‘We see what he’s capable of each day in training, we see the quality he has and honestly, it’s no real surprise to me to see him score four goals.
‘In fact, he could have scored five or six goals! I’m sure he will be fuming not to add to his tally but in all seriousness, he’s such a quality player.’
Palmer had seven shots against the Seagulls and was indeed disappointed that he failed to convert more of his chances.
One chance in the second half when Moises Caicedo won the ball high up and played him clean on goal in the area sticks in the memory after he thumped it wide.
‘I should have had five or six,’ Palmer told Match of the Day.
‘When I missed the first chance I was upset but with the way they played and their high line I felt we’d get more chances.
‘The manager set up a good game plan, we knew how to attack them with first-time passes in behind.
‘Brighton are a good team, pass the ball well. They play similar to us. Three points is what we needed and that is what we got.’I try and play every game the best I can.’
